The engineering firm responsible for developing a radically new private carting system for the city came to Two Twelve for help telling the story of the complex and controversial plan. It was important that everyone, from the public, to elected officials, to private waste haulers, thoroughly understand the plan in order for the City to have the required support to pass legislation to begin implementation. We worked closely with the DSNY Commissioner’s office to create a document that communicates the plan through data visualizations, maps, and clear content organization. This report successfully led to changes in legislation allowing for its implementation to begin.

Process and Responsibilities 

• Lead designer, working with both the DSNY team, including the Commissioner, and the engineering firm behind the data to review their raw data to help present their story
